Salted Caramel Brownies - heaven on a plate!

Salted Caramel Brownies - Heaven on a Plate!

As the temperatures down south in Vic continue to hang about in the annoying low teens, we soldier on in our puffers and woollen socks and tights (we do recommend checking out the fabulous range from Tightology and our special socks from Donegal Ireland as a way to still look fabulous whilst being warm!). But the blossoms and daffs are popping up around us indicating to Spring is just around the corner.  As a business of sun loving individuals (yes, who choose to live down south) we believe the approaching Spring is reason to celebrate and to make the most of the warming comfort foods which we'll shortly be forgetting about.

So here you go. You are welcome.  Sweet chocolately amazingness of Brownies elevated to the next level with the one and only Misty's Salted Caramel Sauce.

FOR THE BROWNIES

  • Cooking spray
  • 170g butter
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 jar of Misty's salted caramel sauce
  • flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

DIRECTIONS

Step 1.  Preheat the oven to 350° and grease a 9" square baking pan with cooking spray. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt butter. Remove from heat and let cool for 4 minutes.

Step 2.  Stir in cocoa powder and sugar until combined. Gradually mix in eggs and vanilla until the batter is glossy.

Step 3.  In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt. Gradually add mixture to brownie batter, stirring until just combined.

Step 4.  Pour into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out with some brownie crumbs, 35 to 40 minutes. Let brownies cool.

Stir and pour/drizzle Misty's Salted Caramel Sauce over cooled Brownies.  Allow the sauce to set somewhat before slicing.  If desired, sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.

* We also fervently support these Brownies being heated and supplied with an extra dash of Misty's Caramel Sauce and served with a creamy vanilla ice-cream as a decadent, it's the best to eat when its chilly but who would say no to this pudding all year round, so easy can be prepared in advance, this will become a go to favourite, decadent pudding.

Enjoy!
